Heightfield Blur

fields/heightfield-blur·v1.5.1
IN:1  OUT:1

Heightfield Blur filters one layer of a height field over a Radius in world units, so the result does not change with the resolution. Blur and Box Blur average the neighborhood, Expand and Shrink take its maximum or minimum, and Sharpen pushes the layer away from its blurred copy.

Iterations repeat the filter for a softer, wider result. Pick Height to smooth the terrain or a falloff layer to grow, shrink or soften the falloff; the falloff blends the effect, and Falloff Aware Radius scales the radius by it so the blur fades out without a seam.

PAGEBlur
LayerLayerSelects the layer to blur: Height smooths the terrain, a falloff layer softens the falloff.
RadiusRadiusThe size of the neighborhood in world units. It does not depend on the resolution.
IterationsIterationsRepeats the blur. Four iterations blur about as much as doubling the Radius, with a smoother falloff.
Sharpen StrengthSharpenstrengthHow far Sharpen pushes the layer away from its blurred copy.
Falloff Aware RadiusFalloffawareScales the Radius by the falloff attribute too, so the blur fades out without a seam at the falloff edge.
Do FalloffDofalloffWeight the effect on each point by the Falloff Attribute.
Falloff AttributeFalloffattrThe point attribute, 0 to 1, that weights the effect.
Invert FalloffInvertfalloffUses one minus the falloff attribute.
Falloff StrengthFalloffstrengthScales the effect of the falloff attribute.
Border ValueBordervalueThe height read outside the height field when Border is Constant.
