Voxelize

fields/voxelize·v1.5.1
IN:1  OUT:1

The Voxelize operator cuts a box around its input into voxels and outputs a grid with one point per voxel carrying Weight and Color, plus optional Dist (signed distance), Gradient (the surface normal) and Velocity. A closed mesh is filled by rasterizing its triangles or by ray tracing, while a point cloud is splatted as soft blobs that carry each point's color and motion.

Max Axis Resolution, Auto Compute Bounds and Margin set the grid, and Velocity follows a moving, spinning or scaling object, optionally with its changing shape. The output feeds the other field operators such as Field Fill, Combine Field, Field Measure and Field Render, or the Flow solver, and Output 3D Textures also provides the field as 3D textures.

PAGEVoxelize
Max Axis ResolutionMaxaxisresNumber of voxels along the longest axis. The other axes follow the box proportions.
Auto Compute BoundsAutoboundsWhen on, the box fits the input bounds every frame. When off, the box is set by hand and the field stays fixed.
MarginMarginPadding around the box on every side, in world units.
Display BoundsDisplayboundsDisplay the field box.
Display Voxels as PointsDisplayvoxelsEnable showing the occupied voxels as points in the viewer.
SmoothnessSmoothnessIn Raytrace mode, the distance over which density fades in from the surface. 0 gives a hard edge.
Surface ThresholdSurfacethresholdIn Ray Trace, the surface band width in world units. In Point Cloud, the Weight above which a cell is solid.
Point ScalePointscaleSplat radius of each point of a point cloud, in cells. 0.5 is one cell.
Override if Color ExistsOverrideifexistsWhen on, the Color parameter is used even if the input has a Color attribute.
Weight ScaleWeightscaleMultiplies the Weight (density) of the voxels.
Multiply Color by Weight ScaleMultcolorWhether to multiply Color by Weight Scale.
Compute SDFComputesdfEnable writing Dist, the signed distance to the surface, negative inside.
Compute GradientComputegradientWhether to output Gradient, the unit normal of the distance field.
Compute VelocityComputevelocityWrite Velocity from the change since the previous frame, in units per second.
Velocity ScaleVelocityscaleMultiplies the output Velocity.
Reset VelocityResetvelocityClears the velocity history so the next frame outputs zero.
Output 3D TexturesOutput3dtexturesWhether to output one 3D texture per field attribute.
