Heightfield Noise

fields/heightfield-noise·v1.5.1
IN:1  OUT:1

Heightfield Noise evaluates noise at every sample's position in the plane and combines it with a layer of the height field. Amplitude and Element Size are in world units, so the features keep their size at any resolution, and Combine with Existing sets how the noise combines with the current value.

It offers 14 noise types, including Perlin, Simplex, Worley and Alligator, with Standard, Terrain and Hybrid Terrain fractals, plus Fold, Complement, Gain, Bias and Clip to shape the result. Write to Height to build terrain, or to any other layer to create a noise falloff; the falloff blends the effect, and 0 keeps the input exactly.

PAGENoise
LayerLayerThe layer the noise is written to. Height moves the terrain; any other name writes a float layer (a falloff, for example).
BlendBlendThe mix between the current value (0) and the noise (1) when Combine with Existing is Blend.
AmplitudeAmplitudeThe height of the noise in world units.
Element SizeElementsizeThe size of one noise feature in world units. It does not depend on the resolution.
SeedSeedNumerical value that initializes the randomization.
Do FalloffDofalloffWeight the effect on each point by the Falloff Attribute.
Falloff AttributeFalloffattrThe point attribute, 0 to 1, that weights the effect.
Invert FalloffInvertfalloffUses one minus the falloff attribute.
Falloff StrengthFalloffstrengthScales the effect of the falloff attribute.
Border ValueBordervalueThe height read outside the height field when Border is Constant.
PAGENoise Type
Max OctavesMaxoctavesThe number of noise layers added by the fractal.
LacunarityLacunarityThe frequency multiplier from one octave to the next.
RoughnessRoughnessThe amplitude multiplier from one octave to the next. Small steps change it a lot.
Flow RotationFlowrotationRotates the flow noise, where 1 is a full turn. Animate it for a swirling motion.
FoldFoldTakes the absolute value of the noise: sharp creases where it crosses zero.
ComplementComplementUses one minus the noise.
Enable GainEnablegainApplies a gain curve to the noise.
GainGainBelow 0.5 flattens the noise toward its middle, above 0.5 pushes it toward its extremes.
Enable BiasEnablebiasApplies a bias curve to the noise.
BiasBiasBelow 0.5 favors low values, above 0.5 favors high values.
Clip MinimumClipminClamps the noise from below (after the Amplitude).
MinimumClipminimumThe lowest noise value in world units.
Clip MaximumClipmaxClamps the noise from above (after the Amplitude).
MaximumClipmaximumThe highest noise value in world units.
